The Dimock Center Awarded $1 Million

We are pleased to announce a multi-year commitment of $1,000,000 to The Dimock Center’s Restoring Hope Campaign to make addiction treatment and recovery services easier to access in Boston. This is critical to addressing the growing opioid crisis in our community.

In Boston, opioid-related deaths are up by 37% since 2018. In 2020, there was a 69% increase in overdose deaths among Black men in Massachusetts. The pandemic’s impact on people’s mental health and economic stability, and increased trauma, have led to these stark figures.

Our gift will support renovations to the historic Dr. Marie Zakrzewska “Z” Building to create the first post-detox Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) program for men in the City of Boston.

Dimock will also move its existing women’s CSS program into the building, creating a state-of-the-art 32-bed program that reaches over 1,000 people annually.

The Restoring Hope Campaign will strengthen Dimock’s treatment model, complete its comprehensive substance use disorder continuum of care, fill a critical gap in the Boston area, and save more lives.

Substance use disorder is a chronic disease and CSS helps people progress to three consecutive months of treatment, which positively influences their continued recovery trajectory. During this time, Dimock will also connect individuals to primary and specialty health care.

Founded in 1862, The Dimock Center is a national model for delivering comprehensive, culturally competent, affordable, high-quality health care in an urban setting. It offers holistic services on a nine-acre campus including integrated behavioral health care in a primary care setting, shelter and residential programs, addiction treatment, and early childhood education, reaching more than 19,000 people annually.
