Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell Awarded $1 Million for New Teen Center
August 8, 2022
We are pleased to announce a commitment of $1,000,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell to support the renovation, modernization, and expansion of its 657 Middlesex Street facility. In particular, the gift supports the addition of a new Teen Center which will enable the Club to engage up to 250 teens daily.
Supporting Lowell’s most underserved young people for over 120 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell’s vision is to end intergenerational poverty and to create a more equitable, inclusive, and resilient community. It provides youth with safe spaces, nutritious meals, mental health supports, a wide range of high-quality out-of-school programming, and positive adult role models to help them realize their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Pre-pandemic, the Club averaged 1,500 registered members from ages 8 to 18 each year.
We are supporting the Club’s $19 million Believe & Become comprehensive campaign, which will allow the agency to serve twice as many young people, up to 600 per day and more than 3,500 youth annually, by 2027. Our investment in the Teen Center will ensure that all teen members have access to the same tools and learning opportunities as those from more affluent communities. Members will participate in career and college readiness programming to help them graduate high school with a plan and a pathway to a safe, stable future.
