CTI Opens Center for Youth Experiencing Homelessness
January 30, 2020
Community Teamwork, Inc. (CTI) strengthens Lowell and surrounding communities by delivering vital services and collaborating with stakeholders to create housing, education, and economic opportunities. CTI serves nearly 50,000 low-income individuals and families each year.
As a lead partner in the City of Lowell’s cross-sector Task Force on Homelessness, CTI recognized the need to support young adults who are experiencing homelessness.
We invested $250,000 for CTI to renovate part of its Dutton Street building into “The Mill-You,” a trauma-informed space providing low-barrier services and crisis intervention to homeless and at-risk youth between the ages of 16-24.
The Mill-You offers basic necessities (food, laundry, showers, computer access), peer support, and serves as an access point to connect youth to a full range of services, including housing. The Mill-You opened on November 19, 2019.
In January, over 60 guests attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for CTI’s new Youth Opportunity Center, which houses the Mill-You.
At full capacity, CTI anticipates The Mill-You will serve up to 125 youth per year.
